At the height of Project Mercury, a Mold-A-Rama machine at Cape Canaveral vended a Mercury space capsule souvenir engraved to commemorate the 1962 flights of Friendship 7, Aurora 7 and Sigma 7, sold within months of John Glenn becoming the first American to orbit the Earth.
This pre-dates today’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which opened in 1967.
