About Capt. Starn's Restaurant & Boating Center

Capt. Starn’s, opened in 1940 at the Absecon Inlet, seated 750 and was one of the most famous seafood restaurants on the East Coast, with its own fish market, a fleet of thirteen excursion boats, a thrill-ride seaplane, and a seal pen where diners bought chum for 15¢.

Its Mold-A-Rama machine vended a 1963 souvenir of one of the restaurant’s own show sailboats. The restaurant closed in the late 1970s and was later demolished.
