Los Angeles Central Library

The Los Angeles Central Library’s sphinx mold nods to the pair of black-marble sphinxes inside the 1926 landmark building, a bookish outpost for the machines in the city where Mold-A-Rama, Inc. of Los Angeles first commercialized the invention in 1962.
