The Shell Factory in North Fort Myers, a Florida roadside institution dating to 1938, billed itself as the world’s largest collection of rare shells and corals.
Its Mold-A-Rama machine vended the Octopus figure in the 1960s and 70s. The machine’s original plexiglass backglass survives in the Moldville archive.
